Seattle University William F. Eisiminger Fitness Center

How can facilities enhance students' wellbeing and success?

Located in downtown Seattle, this 18,000-square-foot expansion to the existing Seattle University Redhawk Center was the first of four planned phases that completely renovated the facility. The two-story addition connects to the south end of the pre-existing facility. The expansion provides group exercise studios and cardio and weight training areas for Seattle University’s recreational sports programs. The addition’s first floor houses a reception area, administrative offices, and locker rooms, as well as additional fitness equipment and stretching areas. Large west-facing windows provide campus views and additional lighting.

The building achieved LEED Gold certification. Visible sustainable elements include a rain garden, bicycle racks, low-flow water systems, window shades, and recycled and sustainable building materials. This was Mortenson’s second project with Seattle University.
