In 2018, the Vadnais Heights Sports Center's sports dome experienced a catastrophic collapse due to an unprecedented snowfall in Minnesota. Recognizing the vital importance of maintaining year-round access to sports like hockey, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, and providing event spaces for the community, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners initiated the construction of a new facility featuring a permanent roof structure.
The new indoor turf facility, spanning an impressive 82,000 square feet, is an integral component of the TCO Sports Garden in Vadnais Heights. In addition to this, an extra 15,000 square feet of parking was added to the sports center campus, ensuring ample space for visitors and participants.
Building a successful project is not just about construction; it's also about fostering solid relationships and partnerships. Prior to the selection of a contractor, extensive proactive preplanning and communication took place. Collaborative efforts between our team and the county commissioners played a pivotal role in comprehending the intricate design requirements for constructing an indoor turf facility with a permanent roof. This proactive approach allowed us to establish a realistic scope and budget, ensuring that the project aligns with the customer's needs and expectations.
Ensuring the project's timely completion was paramount, especially considering that the new indoor turf facility was set to become one of the few such facilities in the Northeast Metro area. Amid the pandemic, navigating supply chain issues posed considerable challenges in terms of material procurement. However, our team demonstrated exceptional resilience and adaptability. We worked closely with our suppliers, meticulously monitoring and verifying delivery dates. This proactive engagement with our suppliers was pivotal in keeping the project's schedule on track despite the challenges posed by the uncertain supply chain dynamics during the pandemic.
This project represents the construction of a state-of-the-art sports facility. It underscores the importance of collaboration, proactive planning, and adaptability in delivering a successful project, even in the face of unforeseen challenges.
