WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION
Building a talent pipeline for women
Our Salt Lake City and Denver women’s affinity group celebrates the growing role of women in the construction industry, we strive to raise awareness for opportunities available to women at Mortenson, and to always give back to the communities in which we work. We hope to continue to build a pipeline of women entering the industry, as we work to expose the youth in our community to the opportunities for career pathways in our industry.

Progressive Hiring Process
Today, women serve vital functions across all facets of Mortenson’s business – from project engineers to superintendents and laborers to electricians. In fact, 34% of Mortenson's workforce is women - more than triple the industry average of 9.1%, and nearly 10% of our craftworkers are women. Unique in the construction industry, Mortenson also has a standing commitment to award 15% of all subcontracts to small, minority and women-owned businesses, including all private work - a goal the company has exceeded.
Women to Watch
Women are making an impact in every industry, enterprise and workplace imaginable, including our Mortenson team who were featured in CoBiz Magazine's annual Women to Watch.
We were honored to be recognized by the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce as the 2019 Industry Trailblazer
at their annual Champions of Change event.
Women's Skills Night
We created a program to focus
on safety, tool use, reading blueprints, and IWP training
for our female team members. These events are held quarterly for all team members.
Women play an important role at Mortenson - here we discuss how can we have advanced what women are doing on our project sites, and the abundant roles they represent throughout our company.
