
Corey Furst, LEED AP, DBIA
Market Director | Federal Government
With over 25 years in the construction industry, Corey Furst is a key leader at Mortenson, serving as Market Director within the Federal Contracting Group. He excels in developing strategies that drive business growth by developing relationships, understanding market priorities and potential disruptors. Corey builds and fosters relationships in all aspects of the project life cycle, including customers and community leaders, leveraging Mortenson’s comprehensive solutions to meet market needs. Initially joining Mortenson’s Federal Contracting Group, Corey has also help lead our Data Center and Salt Lake City Group teams.
Corey has an extensive history working with the federal government, with broad experience ranging from waterfront to laboratory and MILCON work at secure facilities. Notable projects under his leadership include the Southeast Poultry Research Lab in Athens, GA, multiple projects within the waterfront restricted area at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, GA, and several projects at Hill Air Force Base in Salt Lake City, UT.
Corey holds a LEED Accredited Professional credential and a DBIA Professional Certificate. He is actively involved in organizations, serving on the boards of the Design-Build Institute of America and the Alzheimer's Association, and is a member of the Associated General Contractors and Associated Builders & Contractors.

I’m most proud of seeing my team members grow and succeed. Having worked on many Mortenson projects with talented teams, the Kings Bay and Data Center projects have fantastic team members that have done exceeding well on very challenging projects.
FUN FACTS
- My wife, Brenda, is a fellow Mortenson team member. She has been with the company for almost 19 years, and my daughter is at the University of Utah.
- I hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota.
INTERESTS
- I love spending quality time with my family – especially travel and food.
- I’m a huge foodie and have a special place in my heart for doughnuts.
- I love the outdoors and enjoy mountain biking, hunting, fishing, skiing and snowboarding.
