Joanna Slominski has been in the construction industry for over 14 years and oversees Mortenson’s North Dakota operations. She joined Mortenson in 2004 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from North Dakota State University (NDSU). Joanna provides oversight for more than $550M of work that Mortenson has completed across the State.
She was a featured speaker for the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce on the challenges of being a "Women in a Man's World" and the changing workforce in the construction industry. Joanna is a recipient of the ENR Young Professionals award, (formerly Top 20 under 40), Prairie Business Magazine’s Forty Under Forty and Top 25 Women in Business awards, as well as NDSU’s Horizon Award.
Joanna is very involved in the local community and commits her time and talents to the local United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, and Red River Zoo. Additionally, she is co-chair of the Advisory Board of Construction Management and Engineering at NDSU, Board of Directors member of the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trustees member for the United Way of Cass-Clay and member and director of National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Chapter #246, among other professional commitments. Joanna mentors area University students, and is involved in outreach to local schools with a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focus.
