David Thorson
Director of Development Project Management | Real Estate Development
As Director of Development Project Management, David leads Project Management by providing advanced project leadership during the development phase to positively impact project feasibility. He implements creative design-build strategies, including market research, partner selection, design-phase advancement, scope and budget alignment, and procurement strategies. David also leads Project Management through the overall execution of development projects during the construction phase by maintaining strong investor and customer relationships and ensuring development contracts are appropriately administered.
Prior to joining the development group, David worked in the Phoenix office leading the construction efforts for the Ellsworth Adhesives Distribution Center in Reno NV; Hyatt Place/Hyatt House Hotel in Tempe, AZ; Hyatt Place Downtown in Phoenix, AZ; and most recently transferring to the Minneapolis office to lead the construction effort for the Augustana University Student Housing Master Plan in Sioux Falls, SD. Prior to joining Mortenson, David worked for McShane Construction from May 2005 until December 2017 as a Project Executive providing estimating, preconstruction and operational leadership to their Phoenix office.
David graduated from Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. In his free time, David enjoys playing and watching sports, and spending time with his wife Lauren and their children Ella, Jack and Liam.
