Building Community with Rebuilding Together

We believe in the power of collective action to create lasting change. Volunteering with Rebuilding Together provides the opportunity for our project teams across the country to support the same cause, with skills-based volunteering that aligns with Mortenson as builders, not just of structures, but of communities.

Rebuilding Together is a community partner dedicated to repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives, a perfect fit for our corporate focus on shelter, ensuring individuals and families have safe and stable places to call home.

Our partnership with them began in 2022 on one of our projects in Texas.  Our Women’s Business Resource Group (BRG) became involved, and we furthered our impact with funds from the Company Foundation to secure a multi-year partnership with Rebuilding Together. Our Power, Electric Vehicle, Energy Storage, and Engineering groups first partnered with Rebuilding Together in Minneapolis and Texas.  In 2023, our work extended to California, then Oregon, and Phoenix in 2024. In Phoenix, we’ll partner to further our impact and assist homeowners within Qualified Census Tracts with low-maintenance and drought-resistant landscaping.

This partnership is more than just about improving physical spaces for low-income families, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities; it strengthens our commitment to social responsibility and brings our teams closer. Working side by side on home repair projects fosters teamwork and reinforces the values that drive our organization. Whether it’s painting, building accessibility ramps, landscaping, or fixing essential systems, every effort contributes to the comfort and safety of our neighbors.

Investing in shelter is investing in the foundation of thriving communities. Partnering with Rebuilding Together helps improve the safety and structure of individual homes and revitalizes beloved neighborhoods.
