Mortenson’s Salt Lake City Team Makes a Lasting Impact Through 2025 Do Something Good Campaign

Mortenson's annual Do Something Good Campaign recently concluded in Salt Lake City, where the team turned purpose into action. For every four hours volunteered through September 19, Mortenson donated $250 to United Way, up to $500 per team member, amplifying the impact of every hour spent giving back.

The campaign kicked off with a virtual event live from BLUbox, where team members from various Mortenson locations shared inspiring stories about the power of community.

On September 5, members of the Salt Lake City team volunteered in Malad City, Idaho, building an outdoor playset for Brielle, a young girl battling cancer. The campaign’s momentum continued as the team partnered with Utah Community Action and United Way of Salt Lake to read and play with children at James R Russell Headstart. These moments of connection built stronger relationships and supported early childhood development in the community.

To close out Do Something Good Week, the Salt Lake City team rolled up their sleeves to clear overgrown goathead weeds from the field at James R. Russell Elementary. While it may seem like a small task, it created a safer, cleaner space for students and neighbors to enjoy. Mortenson is proud to support United Way of Salt Lake’s mission of building strong, connected communities through meaningful collaboration.

Mortenson’s commitment to giving back was evident at the Eagle Mountain project, where the team partnered with the American Red Cross to host a site blood drive on September 10, 2025. Team members and site crews were encouraged to participate, with walk-ins welcome and special incentives offered. Eligible donors could also make Power Red donations, which count as two donations—ten of these were received. The event underscored the impact each donation can have in saving lives and offering hope to those in need. In total, 44 units were donated, including whole blood products from 24 individuals.

Across the four events, a total of 46 volunteers contributed close to 100 hours of service, demonstrating the team’s commitment to making a difference. Together, the Salt Lake City team is proving that small acts of service can add up to big change. Let’s get out there and Do Something Good.
