Helping Sanford Meet Community Needs
Hospital room

Mortenson began our partnership with Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota in 2012—delivering a new, 950,000 square foot Medical Center and bringing Level 1 Trauma services to the region. Medical services housed in the building include a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), trauma/operating rooms, orthopedics/neurosurgery, heart surgery/interventional cardiology, and emergency services.

In July 2020, Mortenson was assisting with a 10,000 square foot interior build-out of a wing on the eighth floor to provide 14 new patient beds and associated nursing stations and back-of-house spaces. The project was originally scheduled to open in January 2021 however, due to increased demand for patient beds, Sanford and Mortenson put together a plan to accelerate the completion of the project. The team was able to finish the new wing on November 18th, allowing Sanford to utilize the space less than a week later—months ahead of the original opening date.

“Providing a healing space for the people in my community is one of the most satisfying parts of my job,” said project manager Travis Cleem. “I am proud of our partnership with Sanford and the contribution we are making here at the Medical Center.”
