Froedtert Hospital’s West Tower represents a strategic investment in capacity, flexibility, and long-term campus transformation. Located at the northeast corner of 92nd Street and Doyne Avenue, just west of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Center for Advanced Care, the 230,000-square-foot tower anchors the next phase of Froedtert Hospital’s master plan and will establish a new hospital main entrance and expanded lobby, inviting patients and visitors into a more welcoming campus experience.
Designed to meet growing demand for advanced healthcare services, the tower will introduce 96 inpatient beds across four floors. The facility also includes shelled space for future inpatient units, ensuring flexibility to accommodate evolving healthcare needs over time.
The West Tower emerged from Froedtert Hospital’s long-term campus master planning efforts and reflects a strategic vision for sustained growth. Mortenson was engaged early as the first member of the project team, supporting architect and engineering partner selection to foster an integrated, innovation-focused approach. That early collaboration enabled forward-thinking strategies such as prefabricated bathroom pods for inpatient rooms, manufactured off-site in a controlled environment to enhance quality, improve safety, and streamline installation within the active campus environment.
Building within a fully operational medical center requires disciplined phasing and constant coordination. Every delivery, system tie-in, and utility connection is carefully sequenced around 24/7 hospital operations. Through proactive logistics planning and a safety-first culture, the team continues to advance construction while protecting uninterrupted patient care.
An elevated skywalk connecting the tower to a new parking structure will further enhance access and campus circulation, reinforcing the tower’s role as a welcoming and highly visible new gateway to campus. Construction began in 2024, with patient occupancy anticipated in late 2027. As the tower rises, it reflects Froedtert’s commitment to expanding access, strengthening clinical excellence, and positioning its campus for decades of growth.
