The Kaiser Permanente Everett Specialty Center in Everett, Washington, was designed and built to enhance access to high-quality specialty care for the expanding community in Snohomish County. This modern healthcare facility reflects Kaiser Permanente’s vision for patient-centered care and Mortenson’s commitment to delivering innovative, effective, and healing environments.
Patients arrive at a bright, open lobby designed for efficiency, with staffed check-in stations and self-service kiosks. The area directs patients to nearby MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and fluoroscopy services. The first floor also includes community conference rooms, a quick‑service food area, pharmacy pickup lockers, and a modernized blood‑draw lab, all of which elevate convenience and reduce wait times. On the second floor, state‑of‑the‑art operating rooms and special procedure rooms support advanced surgical services. The third and fourth floors connect directly to the existing medical center and feature infusion and chemotherapy spaces, a pharmacy, additional imaging, and flex‑ready clinic exam rooms designed for both in‑person and telehealth visits. Across these levels, integrated specialty care pods bring together a wide range of departments, including cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, and more.
Every detail of the design prioritizes comfort and clarity, with abundant natural light, intuitive wayfinding, and welcoming spaces that reduce stress and promote well-being. Advanced medical technology and telehealth capabilities are integrated throughout the facility, supporting flexibility for future care models and improving patient access.
Sustainability was embedded into every phase of the project, with high-performance systems and environmentally responsible materials reinforcing Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to lowering its carbon footprint. Delivered within a dense urban environment and under an accelerated schedule, the project succeeded through a highly collaborative, lean approach. Early engagement of trade partners and just-in-time delivery strategies drove efficiency, preserved quality, and ensured seamless, on-time completion.
The Everett Specialty Center serves as a critical community asset, expanding access to high-quality specialty care close to home. By bringing advanced services to the region, Kaiser Permanente is improving health outcomes while delivering greater convenience for thousands of patients. Mortenson is proud to partner on a project that not only meets today’s healthcare demands but is thoughtfully designed to support the evolving needs of the community for years to come.
